Finally, a trip elsewhere. In March 2011, we visited Sarasota and Don Pedro Island. 2010 Fast forward to 2010. We spend most of our time in Maine and look forward to posting more photos. Maybe someday we will travel elsewhere again and take more photos. For now, enjoy the seasons of Maine, as we do. ![]() Highlands - 2008 Fall 2008: We did a trip to Highlands NC for the fall colors and also a trip to Maine. Here are photos from both trips. ![]() Eggemoggin Reach - 2008 July 2008: We spent three weeks back in Maine. The first two weeks the weather was perfect--not a drop of rain. The third week got rainy as the week progressed. You'll see evidence of the beautiful Maine fog in the last few photos.
Maine in June 2008: Tom spent three weeks and Lynne was there for two. We hiked, biked and kayaked the area...and worked on the house. We lost Abbey in February, but Isabel celebrated her second birthday on this trip.
Winter 2008: Tom took a trip up in late February and early March for a taste of a real Maine winter and to teach at the New England School of Communications in Bangor.
September 2007: A quick one-week trip to Maine. The leaves were just starting to turn, the weather was perfect and the water was warm. I was a guest lecturer at the New England School of Communications in Bangor.
July 2007: We went back to Maine in July for three weeks and the weather was great. We spent a lot of time kayaking all over Blue Hill Peninsula because it was too hot to hike much and Tom's ankle had not healed from a bizarre kayaking accident in June. We also got to spend time with a lot of our neighbors and friends from Blue Hill.
June 2007: The first of two summer trips to Maine this year and the weather was much better than the two previous Junes. I sprained my ankle so we spent less time hiking and more time kayaking. It was also Isabel's first trip up so there are many pictures of her. |
For our first Fall trip to Maine, the weather was great -- clear and mild. Arriving on October 11, we missed the peak of the leaves by about a week, but it was still beautiful.
We rented a house on the coast of Maine near Bar Harbor for two months in May and June of 2005. We enjoyed it so much that we purchased a summer home nearby and plan to return each summer for many years.
In 2004, we flew to Seattle and visited the Olympic National Park before moving on to the city of Victoria, the remote beach of Tofino on Vancouver Island, and then back to Orcas Island in the San Juan chain.
2003: We flew to Banff and headed to our favorite spot, Emerald Lake Lodge. Then we spent a few nights at Cathedral Mountain Lodge, Moraine Lake Lodge and then a couple nights in Banff. It was our second trip to the Canadian Rockies.
2002: On our first visit to the Canadian Rockies, we spent the first night, near Calgary. On Sunday, we went to Emerald Lake Lodge, hiked around the lake and up to Hamilton Falls. Then, on to Moraine Lake Lodge, hiking up to Larch Valley where this picture was taken. We also hiked to the Lake Agnes Tea House above Lake Louise. Then on to Banff.
In 2001, we visited the coast of Maine, starting with
Boothbay and working our way up the coast to Camden and then Southwest
Harbor on Mount Desert Island.
